In June, it is the rain season in Japan.

It is humid and cloudy everyday. It might be not a good time to visit somewhere in Japan?

What about tring Hokkaido?

In Hokkaido, there is no rain season! The average temperature is around 16 degrees.

Most of the popular what to do and eat is…going to Hakodate to eat great seafood, Sapporo to find some festivals, and Asahiyama Zoo to see some penguines and polar bears.

However, I would like to recommend a little plan from those,which are best in June and in Hokkaido

There is DOUNAN in the south part of Hokkaido. Dounan is historical sightseeing place in Japan, where the first international port was opened.

Hakodate has the atomosphere of the old time in Japan, where japanese people met outside culture in Hakodate.

Hakodate has a lot of local markets and restaurants. It is the place for eating great food in Hokkaido.

However, I would like to introduce Hakodate fast food instead of seafood this time.

Seafood in Hakodate is well known by all of the people in Japan and a lot of tourist. The fast foods in Hakodate is well known and developped a lot by the locals.

Lucky Pierrot is one of the most known fast food and loved by the locals.

What you have to try in Hakodate is humburgars and curry & rice, which are very unique and different from ones outside of Hakodate.

The good things about fast food is that they are very cheap.

The humburgar is almost exploring… and it is just 350 yen!

Inside of the Lucky pierrot, it looks like a theme park. Different food stations are build with a unique theme like “American”, “Swings“, or even “Audrey Hepburn”

“Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse” has many unique local shops insede.

“The Pastry Snaffle’s” has a variety of baked sweets for the survenir. The Grass art shop and Music box shop are also interesting to see.

The survenirs at the warehouse are unique for Japanese too, because most of them are mixture of japanese culture and Europian.

Warehouse is near the sea. You can enjoy walking seaside. The city has an unique charactoristics of Meji era.

There is also a crusing tour and great to spend an afternoon.

There are some churches and museums that show you the connection between Japan and other coutries in the past.

The night view from Hakodate mountain is one of the 3 best night views(Hakodate, Naplesm and Hong Kong).

The lookout is made at the haight of 334 meters.

On the left side, there is the straits of Tsugaru, and the Hakodate bay on the right.

It is very romantic to see the contrast of lights and water.

The largest festivals in Sapporo in June is “YOSAKOI SORAN FESTIVAL”!!

20 places in Sapporo hold this festival for 5 days in early June. The festival is about the dance called “Yosakoi”!

About 3 million people join the dancers and over 200 million people visit Sapporo to see the event every year.

This is the hottest festival in Hokkaido!

The dancers in colorful costumes dance strongly and cheerfully. Just watching them makes you smile and happy!

Also many food stands gather in Sapporo from all over Japan. Please do not miss the best festival in early summer!

That is the white Lovers!

It is a small biscouit that is poplar all over japan.

At the white lovers park not only you can buy the biscuoit but also you can bake sweets.

For families, it is a fun experience. There are also a cafe with antique furniture, which is very relaxing.

Sapporo is popular with Lamb and Beer!

The combination of a lamb dish, Genghis Khan and cold beer is the best after walking around the city.

Where to enjoy those two is “Sapporo beer park”. The outside looks pretty with red bricks.

Night view from Moiwa Mountain

Another Night view spot of Hokkaido is from Moiwa mountain in Sapporo.

The view were selected as one of the 3 best night views in Japan conpetition in 2015.

The view is clear and you can see far away because of the clean air.

I recommend you to use metro to move around Sapporo. Metro stations are near the sight seeing spots though it costs a little more than train.

If you are visiting Sapporo for weekends, there is 1 day ticket, with which you can use metro as many times as you want for one day.
